How to make your own coffee body scrub
A coffee scrub is a great way to regularly exfoliate the skin – which assists in keeping it healthy and vibrant.
Exfoliating removes dead skin and expels toxins, and the addition of the caffeine in coffee scrubs enhances this rejuvenating process.
The benefits of coffee scrubs
Coffee body scrubs are often made from coconut oil and coffee grounds, which each possess multiple benefits for the skin.
The caffeine found in coffee scrubs typically increases blood flow, and may reduce the appearance of cellulite and give your skin a more even tone. Coconut oil is a great skin softener and helps alleviate irritable skin conditions. Some evidence shows that coconut oil can even reduce and delay the appearance of wrinkles, as it keeps the skin’s connective tissues healthy and strong.
How to make a DIY coffee scrub
Ingredients
1/2 cup coconut oil
3/4 cup of coffee grounds (these can be used from your coffee machine or coffee pods, or fresh)
1/2 cup raw sugar
Method
Melt the coconut oil slightly to a semi solid consistency. Combine the coffee grounds and raw sugar, and add to the coconut oil in stages until you have a firm consistency.
Place in an airtight container or jar.
Coffee scrubs are best used in the shower, as they can get a little messy! Once your skin is wet, turn off the water and coat your skin in the coffee scrub in gentle circle motions to aid in the exfoliation process.
After about 5 to 10 minutes, rinse off the coffee scrub.
Coffee scrub and goats milk
The combination of goats milk and a coffee scrub is fantastic for the skin. Goat milk contains a range of vitamins, including vitamin B, C and E – and is particularly high in naturally-occurring vitamin A. The body uses vitamin A to repair damaged skin tissue and maintain healthy skin. Many clinical studies have shown that creams and soaps made with vitamin A help to control acne, reduce lines and wrinkles, and provide some relief from skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema.
